Bike Care Tip of the Moment

In the winter, we still commute to work on our bikes. Sure it may not be as enjoyable as the 70 degree days in April and May, but it's still better then sitting in traffic on the highway sending gas dollars to terrorists.

More so than at any time during the nicer months, keeping your bike clean is a real challenge. Between the salt and the grit winter months are brutal.

To keep your bike clean, follow these simple tips:

1. Purchase a cleaning product like Simple Green that is both effective, cheap and biodegradable.

2. Every time you ride on a wet, salty, gritty day wipe down the bike and drive train, give the bike a few sprays of Simple Green, and wipe dry.

3. Lube everything that moves. I prefer Tri-Flow becasue it works as well as any other product and is one of the cheapest available.

It's that simple. Keep it clean, keep it lubed, and you'll be enjoying the solidarity that is winter commuting.
